"Winged Sleep"
This morning, I woke up abruptly around 3:30 AM. I had been having a dream that I and one other person were standing in front of a wise man who was imparting wisdom to us. He told us a few things, but he was not forthright in telling us the primary thing that we were waiting to hear. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the things that he did tell us. I just remember waiting and the person standing to my left, who I could not see but felt to be male, was waiting with the same anticipation as I was.
Instead, the wise one started showing us large images which
looked like photos. He seemed to be making them into a quilt of some type and
was embroidering on top of the images. The photos looked heavily filtered with
deepened shadows and looked very dramatic. Some of the photos I didn’t want to
look at because they made me uncomfortable. Overall, I cannot remember what
they were about. There was one that I think was a close-up of a tree trunk with
the tree on the right side of the image and nothing really on the left. He was
embroidering on top of the images with thick green thread. (It feels to important
to note this.)
In another photo, two men were in an embrace. It was primarily of their upper
chests and faces. I did not understand the meaning of the photos and wanted him
to tell us what we were there to learn. Instead, he kept on showing us images.
Suddenly, I heard the name, “Quetzelcoatl” and I thought to myself,
“Quetzelcoatl? I don’t even know how to spell that!” I woke up with a start.
It struck me as so odd and I wanted to remember so that I could write it
down in the morning. I went to the bathroom and when I got back in bed, I was
still pondering what it could all mean. Suddenly, a face appeared in the
forefront of my mind. It appeared male. It was a round somewhat ancient looking
face. It said, “I will tell you what it means.” I was so startled that I said,
“No.” and I blocked it out of my mind. However, it was still very important to
me to not forget the dream. When I woke up at 6:30, in my mind I heard
repeatedly: “Quetzalcoatl, Quetzalcoatl, Quetzalcoatl…”
Upon waking, I looked up Quetzalcoatl and was surprised to discover that it is
a feathered serpent, an Aztec God of wind, air, and learning. This is feels
interesting because of all of the storms we had here last night, including a
tornado outbreak just north. I also learned that Quetzalcoatl is both a
creation deity and a trickster god. His name means: smoky mirror.
I have absolutely no idea what any of this means and am open to input. Have you ever dreamed of ancient gods or goddesses?
