This life can be pretty tricky and sometimes it is downright absurd in the trials and tribulations that it throws our way, but it can also be bewilderingly beautiful. Grief can drive us to our knees while splitting our hearts wide open in surprising ways.
Everywhere we turn there is duality. “A Course in Miracles” states that everything is either based in love or fear. This rings deeply true to me. The title of this blog, “The Penny’s Edge” is a way in which I have come to look at those moments when I glimpse the duality, when I can be the observer sitting on that edge while the penny spins round and round. As I hold on tightly and try not to get dizzy or fly off, I once again remember that I am love. We all are. We are just particularly skilled at forgetting our own divinity.
This blog is being created as a place to share my life experiences for a couple of reasons: first, I am hoping that it will get my juices flowing to write this book that has been hanging over my head for quite some time and second, I love sharing and I invite you to do the same. If a particular post speaks to you, please comment and share your story.
Back in the day, I enjoyed having an incredible collection of artist friends over on MySpace. (remember MySpace?) It was there that I shared poetry, prose, art, and photography, and it was that group of artist friends who first encouraged me to take my work out into the 3D world, so I did. The joy I felt sharing my work was life affirming, and just plain fun.
Even though through my own choices I have only had one small art show in the last decade, and I still haven’t put together my poetry book (a different book than the one currently niggling my noodle), I have so much accumulated work that I could fill this blog with only my previous work and it would be packed, but what is really inspiring me to begin sharing again is the lovely golden thread of spiritual experiences and synchronicities that have spectacularly colored my life.
While I love the idea of being able to start this blog at the beginning, the daunting task of trying to organize everything in that way has only served to fuel my procrastination in even beginning. Instead, I am going to just listen to my intuition in regards to what to post and when, because let’s face it, listening to my intuition is what has gotten me here in the first place.
If you are interested in knowing more about me before subscribing or spending any more time reading future posts, the short version is:
· I experienced childhood trauma when my dad died at an early age. It blew my world apart and has put me back together in a new way.
· I continued communicating with my dad and that eventually led me to taking a mediumship class which led others to asking me to speak with their loved ones on the other side. I practice evidential mediumship.
· I am a mom and I adore my children, who are now grown adults.
· I am currently practicing the Ananda Mandala breathwork meditation weekly with a group. This meditation is like tripping balls without taking drugs.
· I am also currently doing the Gateway tapes. (I finished Wave 8 and am now doing them again.) To say that it is mind blowing is an understatement.
· I first found “A Course in Miracles” in 1995 and it has been a key piece in my spiritual journey.
· Maya Angelou is a wise, wise woman whose poetic words speak to my soul, and for several years, I enjoyed all things Eckhart Tolle.
· One of my favorite things is the coming together of science and spirituality.
· I believe in reincarnation and am fascinated by near death experiences.
· I consider myself a skeptic when it comes new spiritual or paranormal information. I don’t just believe anything. If it doesn’t ring true to me internally, it’s not for me.
· I love reading good fiction.
· I love and highly respect Brene Brown’s work.
· I love a wide variety of music and so very many podcasts.
· I have spent many hours crocheting and watching The Office, over and over again.
· I love finding thrift store treasures, cooking, and gardening.
· I have a yellow lab named Dave who is clearly the best dog in the world.
· Laughing is my favorite. (And I love the movie, “Elf”.)
· I don’t believe in gurus. If someone tells you that they have all of the answers, turn around and walk the other way. Everyone’s journey is unique. Our beliefs become knowledge through experience. As long as you are not hurting anyone or yourself, go have your experiences.
· Some of the things that I am going to share are going to seem unbelievable, but please know that I highly value truth and integrity. I am sharing for sharing’s sake, not entertainment value.
Thank you for being here. I hope you enjoy the ride. I know I am.
Love everything about this!
