semantics: a silly little tale

"ah, grasshopper"

As she cartwheeled her way across the top of the hot air balloon, she laughed and thought to herself, “there are no antics like this semantic’s!” Caught up in her own delight at the discovery of this colorful, trampoline-like new surface, she was oblivious to the fact that two giant, rather simian looking creatures had entered the balloon’s basket below and were preparing for an early morning ride. In fact, since she had drifted down to the top of the balloon having hitched a ride on a milkweed seed, she had no idea that there even was a basket below.

Even if she had seen them enter the basket, it’s doubtful that Clementine would have been worried. More than likely, she would have continued on with her antics, just as she was doing now, having moved from cartwheels to handsprings across the top of the balloon.  Quite a few of her friends and family members liked to say that ‘Joy’ was Clementine’s middle name, but really it was Millicent.
